Annual Youth Symposium

Held simultaneously, on the second Saturday of March by Alumnae Chapters across the nation, our Youth Symposium serves as a unifying effort during Sigma Week. The Symposium (supported by undergraduate chapters and affiliates) is designed to highlight some of the prevalent concerns that negatively impact our youth (drugs, teen violence, abuse, low self-esteem, suicide, teen pregnancy, human trafficking, etc.).

The late Dr. LaRona J. Morris, Past Grand Basileus (National President), was the originator of this nationwide, one-day symposium. Dr. Morris initiated this program under her administration during the periods of 1996 – 2000. We are honored to continue her thrust to empower youth in our communities through hands-on, interactive leadership activities centered on a relevant annual theme. The Youth Symposium has a standardized agenda and program package to be used nationwide.

Our goal is to be relevant in the lives of our youth.

Program Benefits:

  • Career Exposure

  • Health and Wellness Activities/Self-Care

  • Social Emotional Learning Activities

  • Networking and community building

A highly anticipated annual event supported by local communities.

More than Pink Walk

As part of Theta Zeta Sigma’s continued support of womens wellness, during October, we are taking time to honor and recognize the women who have bravely fought and continue to fight against breast cancer. Approximately 13% of women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, making it the second leading cause of cancer death among women. As part of our commitment to this cause, we are participating in the Susan G. Komen Pink Walk and attending Pink Sunday church services to raise awareness. Please take a moment to send a prayer for those you know and those you may not, as this month is a time for strength, hope, and unity.

2023 Founders’ Day Celebration

In Celebration of Founder's Day: A Dedication to Service

Greetings, esteemed members of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and all who share in our commitment to community and service,

As we gather this year to commemorate the founding of our beloved sorority, we find ourselves inspired by the enduring legacy of sisterhood, empowerment, and service that has defined Sigma Gamma Rho throughout the years. This Founders’ Day, the sorors of the Theta Zeta Sigma chapter proudly embrace our mission to uplift and transform lives through meaningful acts of kindness and selflessness.

In the spirit of our founders and the principles they instilled in us, we have embarked on a remarkable journey of service. With hearts full of compassion and hands ready to make a difference, we are excited to share our plans for this special occasion.

Project Angel Heart: A Day of Dedicated Service

This year, in celebration of Founders’ Day, the Theta Zeta Sigma chapter has partnered with Project Angel Heart—an organization dedicated to delivering nutritious meals to those facing life-threatening illnesses. Our mission is to extend our hands and hearts to those in need, embodying the spirit of compassion and support that our sorority was built upon.

Our service activities have been thoughtfully organized to accommodate the diverse commitments and responsibilities that each of our sorors holds. Recognizing the various capacities and time limits that define our lives, we have designed an experience that allows each soror to engage meaningfully in service at a level that suits her circumstances.

Day One will see our sorors engaging in meal preparation and packaging, as we work together to create nourishing meals that will provide comfort and sustenance to those who need it most. Whether it's an hour or an entire day, every contribution will be a testament to our collective dedication to making a positive impact.

Day Two will witness the delivery of these thoughtfully prepared meals to the recipients. With empathy in our hearts and smiles on our faces, we will ensure that those in our community facing challenging times know that they are not alone—that the sisterhood of Sigma Gamma Rho stands with them, offering both sustenance and support.

Day Three our sorors will (Detailed information about brunch)

Day Four (Detailed info about church)

In unity and service,

2024 Youth Symposium

The event kicked off with a heartwarming presentation by Dr. Ayesha Ricks, member of Theta Zeta Sigma Alumnae Chapter and a Professional School Counselor. Dr. Ricks set the tone with an exploration of social-emotional learning, emphasizing the importance of relationship building beyond electronic devices and fostering meaningful connections and emotional intelligence among our youth. Following Dr. Rick’s lead, Aurora Police Department's Officer Matthew Alcorta took the stage, captivating the audience with lessons on local laws, law enforcement knowledge, life skills, and leadership. Officer Alcorta's engaging approach left a lasting impression on the attendees, equipping them with invaluable tools for navigating the world with confidence. Additionally, Deserving Dental, represented by Founder & Executive Director Jennifer Geiselhofer and her team, shared essential tips on dental wellness, ensuring that our youth understand the importance of oral hygiene for a bright and healthy future.
