Operation Big Book Bag
Operation BigBookBag is a program designed to address the needs, challenges, and issues that face school-aged children who are educationally at-risk, in local homeless shelters and extended-care hospitals and facilities. Through this program, chapters and members collect and donate educational materials, equipment and school supplies.
Swim 1922
This is a groundbreaking initiative in partnership with USA Swimming which seeks to increase swim participation and decrease drowning rates in the community. In keeping with USA Swimming’s core objectives: Build the Base – Promote the Sport – Achieve Competitive Success and the Sigma Gamma Rho motto of “Greater Service, Greater Progress”, we have come together to affect change and influence the community of black women and girls.
Annual Youth Symposium
The Symposium aims to shed light on pressing issues that adversely affect our youth, including substance abuse, adolescent violence, mistreatment, diminished self-worth, self-harm, teenage parenthood, and human trafficking, among others. Our objective is to remain pertinent in the lives of young individuals.Advantages of the program:Enhanced educational achievements.Improved behavioral patterns.An eagerly awaited yearly event backed by local communities.
